Is there YouTube Vanced for Android Tv? Will the Phones APK work fine w/ remote controls?

For whatever reason casting from YouTube vanced to the Android TV cause it to play via chromecast built in option and not the YouTube app and therefore doesn't let me play or pause videos through my Nvidia shield android TV remote. Does anyone have this issue aswell? I have the official YouTube app installed as well as vanced on my TV but I can't pause and play via the android TV remote. Kinda annoying.

You should connect to TV using the TV code I had the same issue but using TV code it connected and I was able to play videos perfectly.

Yes YouTube Vanced can be sideloaded on Android TV. The interface isn't the best suited to the remote but it does work (doesn't have a leanback icon. I use sideloaded launcher) and s PIP and background playback work too

It does PIP? I guess I forgot its on Oreo! That will be extra weird to controlb😂

I use Smart YouTube TV. It's Android TV compatible and it has no ads. Plus it supports up to 4K video quality.

You need to sideload it though obviously:

When you first run it it will ask you to select the version you want. I am on the Shield and use '4K:MiTV and legacy'.

It doesn't support the new Oreo channels on the home screen though.

It is not working for me. there is a blackscreen and nothing loads. Is there a way to contact the devs?

I am using SmartYouTubeTV on my Shield after seeing it here. It is ad free so for for me. I sideloaded it by downloading it, uploading it to Google Drive, and then installing it from Google Drive via Solid Explorer.

The controls with the controller of the Shield inside SmartYouTubeTV aren't as friendly, but less error prone from an accidental button hit.

Do you know if there's a way to get the new UI on this? I may have downloaded an earlier version, but it seems to have the older UI, with the skip forward and backwards buttons still there an a much slower speed, as the old UI is much slower even in Official app compared to new UI

Smart YouTube tv has ads. I used to use adaway, and that killed the ads, but that stopped working a couple weeks ago. YouTube changed something to make adaway stop working.

Yeah, I haven't used the Android TV YouTube app for a while, compared to my phone where I used Vanced All the time and I totally forgot ads were a thing.... Now it's even more annoying since I'm not used to it 🤣
