Windows 8.1 only comes for gratis if you lot already take a Retail or OEM preinstalled (Dell, HP, etc.) Windows eight License installed and activated on your device, or you wish to reinstall a paid for Windows 8.1 Licensed operating system..

Otherwise, y'all have to buy Windows 8.1.

Microsoft no longer sells Windows viii.1.

Are you lot re-installing Windows 8.1?

If Windows 8.ane was previously installed on your system and yous are re-installing, you can skip the steps to enter a Product Key, if you kicking from Installation media created course that ISO file . . .

Click this link to download a tool from Microsoft to create the Windows 8.1 Installation media on a DVD or USB flash Drive

And then, Boot your PC from the Installation Media you just created (modify Boot Social club in your BIOS) to brainstorm installing Windows 8.1

Since you previously had Windows 8.1 installed and activated on that PC during the installation process skip the steps which ask for a product key and select the option 'I am Reinstalling Windows 8.one on this PC', and activation will not be an upshot, your PC volition have a digital entitlement stored on the Microsoft Activation Servers

Make sure you lot install the aforementioned Edition of Windows eight.1 (Dwelling house, Pro . . . etc.) you previously had installed to avert Activation issues
